Claims Analysis
Our IBNR analysis for a portfolio is undertaken from the ground up, using our experience as claims practitioners. Our approach is to investigate each segment of the reinsurance chain in detail. We analyse the original policies involved, the reinsurance treaties and the retrocessional treaties to ensure that all contributing factors such as provisions for aggregation, exclusions, limits and reinstatement provisions have been taken into account.
The claims arising from the original assureds are reviewed individually to assess the adequacy of reserves and determine the potential ultimate liability. The IBNR analysis is based on Axiom’s market knowledge, expertise and understanding of the underlying assureds’ claims development, original cedant writings and a review of the necessary claim documentation.
